Day 2 – Derwentwater

Posted on September 13, 2019September 13, 2019

For our first day of walking, there was only one place on our agenda – Derwentwater. We love everything about this lake. We were determined to walk around the entire lake on this occasion as previously we have been distracted by the Mary Mount Hotel bar menu and views of Catbells, and usually head back the way we came. Even though we did stop off for a Cumberland sandwich (it would be rude not to), we continued on around the lake and thoroughly enjoyed the 11 mile walk.

This is a great lake to walk around but it is a must to get there early for a parking space. Whilst there are a couple of National Trust car parks we can use for free (as members), we have found the Lakeside Theatre car park the best as it also has toilets which is handy if you have driven a way to get there.

On the way home we stopped off at Booths to pick up food and most importantly… Beer!!!

Ashleigh finished the day with yoga. She made good daily use of her travel mat bought especially for the holiday.
