Checking ahead for the weather, the forecast of rain was pretty grim for the whole of the Lake District. So we opted for a day at the seaside and visited Whitby where the forecast promised sunshine.
We walked the 199 steps to elevated views of the seaside town and visited English Heritage site Whitby Abbey.
The town of Whitby and the Abbey in part inspired Bram Stokers novel, Dracula. Many parts of Whitby are described in the book including the 199 steps up to the abbey.
It was soon lunchtime so we headed to a recommended restaurant, Hadley’s Fish and Chips – we highly recommend their Traditional Yorkshire Tea Meal Deal!

After a stroll around the town we headed home and finished the holiday by opening our final bottle of champagne and a relaxing bath for Ashleigh.
